The Center for Human Identification Department at the University of North Texas Health Science Center is seeking to hire a NamUs Fingerprint Analyst (Examiner) to join our team and support investigating agencies with cases of missing and unidentified deceased persons. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to: * Providing daily assistance to NamUs stakeholders in the areas of entering and enhancing fingerprint data into the NamUs and AFIS databases, to include fingerprint pattern interpretation and coding. * Reviewing NamUs case entries for the completeness and accuracy of fingerprint information that will be disclosed to professional users through NamUs, communicating with entering parties and making revisions to case data as necessary. * Interacting with criminal justice professionals and non-government agencies to enhance outside agencies' understanding and use of NamUs, and identify agencies in need of additional training on NamUs and other missing/unidentified person resources. * Properly document all NamUs cases that are identified through fingerprint comparisons for review by the Training & Analysis Division for inclusion in statistical reports related to the effectiveness of the NamUs program. * Continuing professional education to enhance knowledge and skills related to fingerprint classification and coding, automated fingerprint identification systems (AFIS), and other topics related to fingerprints.
