The Correctional Medicine Department at the University of North Texas Health Science Center is seeking to hire a Licensed Vocational Nurse to join our team. Position services will be scheduled on a PRN basis by UNTHSC's Correctional Medicine Department based on the coverage needs of the designated Federal Bureau of Prisons facility. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to: * Provide assigned nursing duties, including assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care, under the direct supervision of a registered nurse or physician. * Perform and assist with delegated clinical procedures, implement physician's orders and record observations and evaluations of patient response in a timely and detail-oriented manner. * Provide direct medical care to patients including measuring and record patients' vital signs, such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration, monitoring patients' conditions, caring for wounds, and administering medications. * Reinforce patient teaching as delegated by the RN or physician clearly documenting all patient responses in the patient record and providing updates in the patient record, accordingly. * Accept and document orders from the RN or physician consistent with facility guidelines, policies, and procedures. * Clearly communicate, verbally and in writing, patient care activities and patient conditions to appropriate parties. * Delivers quality nursing care while minimizing the risk of infection, contamination, harm, or injury to the patient. * Participate in the quality and performance improvement process, as requested, within the assigned health care facility. * All other duties as assigned within the scope of their LVN licensure to support the clinical needs of the assigned facility.
