The Center for Human Identification at the University of North Texas Health Science Center is seeking to hire a Forensic Technologist to join our team. The position of Forensic Technologist is within the UNT Center for Human Identification Missing Persons Unit. UNTCHI MPU processes samples related to missing persons' investigations for the purpose of establishing the identity of an individual. The Forensic Technologist is responsible for performing DNA extractions from various samples (particularly bone, teeth, blood, tissue); quantifications; amplifications for short-tandem repeats (STRs) and mitochondrial DNA; and loading of amplifications on genetic analyzers. The Forensic Technologist must perform work according to established protocols, document accurate test and quality control records, and complete yearly proficiency tests as required by the FBI Quality Assurance Standards. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to: * Participate in performing equipment maintenance, performance checks, and calibrations. * Stock laboratories. * Trouble-shoot quality assurance and instrument problems. * Assist Forensic Analysts in completing cases. * Able to communicate effectively with team and possess computer skills.
