The Office of the Dean-SPH Department at the University of North Texas Health Science Center is seeking to hire a Academic Student Navigator to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to: * Serve as a liaison to students within the cohort. * Collect data with educational technology/tools as assigned in curricular, co-curricular or assessment activities. Support and assist with the educational technologies used in the classrooms. * Provides support and information to students and leadership on a variety of issues related to the cohort. * Schedule, order food and take minutes of assigned college committees. * Work with the cohort student leadership. * Assist class officers and other student organizations, and develop a strategy to create community within the cohort and maintain cohort-member enthusiasm and engagement throughout the year. * Assist with the planning and execution of all events, activities, and fundraisers for the cohort. * Gather and provide data under the direction of leadership for all cohort events, which can then be used to assess the proficiency of the program. * Actively meet and establish positive/supportive relationships with students. * Complete special projects and duties as assigned. * Demonstrated effectiveness in applying student leadership theory/practices. * Demonstrated effectiveness in program development, implementation, and evaluation. * Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment. * Act as the liaison between the students and the university community. * Act as the liaison to incoming students who have been admitted but not yet matriculated and support the onboarding process. * Receive, communicate and support community service and community engagement activities. * Serve on the volunteer council. * Work and collaborate with department members on strategies to increase visibility and impact of the cohort system and create new initiatives, events, and ideas to improve the cohort system. * Collaborate with assigned course directors on the implementation of the curriculum and activities that support the academic success of the program. * Collect and disseminate student data and confer with university personnel to support the success of students. * Support the implementation of individualized development plans for all students. * Serve as a student advocate and collaborate with university staff in the development of intervention strategies for struggling students and refers students to additional support services on an as-needed basis. * Takes responsibility for learning and complying with university policies including mandated reporting, discipline, attendance, etc. * Complies with all documentation requirements in a timely fashion. * Supports a smooth transition/progression of students from one academic year to the next academic year up to graduation. * Serve on the Student Community Engagement Operations Taskforce * NOTE: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
