University of North Texas - Talent Search Assistant/Tutor

The UNT Trio Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Talent Search Assistant/Tutor to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: THIS POSITION TAKES PLACE AT BOTH GAINESVILLE HIGH SCHOOL CAMPUS AND GAINESVILLE JUNIOR HIGH CAMPUS. YOU MUST HAVE RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION. * Perform academic workshops using a variety of techniques to help 6-12th grade students understand about college and career options. Will maintain logs of student attendance and participation. * May assist Talent Search with Spanish-speaking tasks (as needed) such as translating documents, parent presentations and calling/relaying information to Spanish speaking parents. * Assist with basic administrative functions of an office, have good communication and organization skills. Must be self-motivated and show initiative. * Maintain and update database and paper files for Talent Search students. Will enter student data into database. * Assist Talent Search staff in duties to support meeting the goals/objectives of the Talent Search Program including supporting TS Advisors with academic events, parent nights and other activities. * Establish/maintain effective working relationship with students, TS Staff, and school administrators. * Comply with TS and middle/high school guidelines as well as FERPA regulations. * Will tutor participants in various subject matter according to their needs. The successful candidate will possess the following required qualifications: * Must have high school diploma and some college coursework hours completed. * Work schedule hours are flexible, however candidate must be able to work during and after school day hours. * Must have reliable transportation and be able to travel to Gainesville Junior and High Schools on a weekly basis. * Must be self-motivated and able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
