THIS IS A LIVE-IN POSITION The Residence Hall Operations Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Residence Hall Director to join our team. The Residence Hall Director serves as a live-in leader and general caretaker for students in the residence hall. This person is the primary person responsible for the entire hall's operation and the primary person with whom the Director of Housing communicates about events occurring in the hall. Tasks include the implementation of student development concepts through programs and discipline. Other tasks include monitoring of facilities, and support of University programs and efforts. The Residence Hall Director is supervised by the Director of Housing and Associate Director for Residence Life. This position supervises Assistant Hall Director(s), Desk Staff, and Resident Assistants. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: * Is the primary leader/manager of the hall and supervises Assistant Hall Director(s). * Supervises full-time desk clerks and provides desk staff with appropriate training and feedback. * Keeps Central Housing Administration abreast of disciplinary problems and resident emergencies and issues as they occur. * Provides RAs with daily supervision, personal growth, opportunities, and negotiation of contracts. * Is familiar with and abides by the objectives, policies, and fiscal procedures of the residence halls and total housing system. * Reports all unusual hall incidents on proper forms as they occur including emergency notification of supervisors. * Completes on call shifts during the week and on weekends. * Supports the community development of the hall through programming and student interactions. * Ensures a fully functioning and effective hall association with operates within the hall under the guidance of the hall association advisor. * Assists with monitoring the inventory of student rooms, public, rooms, and patio areas of the hall. The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree and two years of residence life, student services, counseling, or related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required: * Considerable knowledge of and ability to apply advising techniques to support student needs. * Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations verbally and in writing. * Physical and emotional ability to work long and irregular hours, occasionally involving emotional stress and interrupted sleep. * Knowledge of safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed.
