IT Shared Services (ITSS) is seeking a Director for the Project Management Office. This is a key position in the ITSS organization that manages business relationships for Projects involving ITSS resources. The successful candidate will provide, through personal interactions and through division staff, primary executive-level customer interactions across the four UNT System components: UNT System, UNT, UNT Health Science Center, and UNT Dallas. The division of Strategic Services will provide all project management activities for significant projects across the ITSS organization. Projects include software and infrastructure as well as security. The position is responsible for management of the UNT system-wide governance processes that include directors and executives from all four UNT System components. This position provides direction of the Project Managers, the hiring, training and management of departmental project managers in the PMO function. Specific functional duties include: * Lead and update the PMO function in IT shared services * Coach and mentor team members on best practices to manage business relationships and effectively manage projects day to day * Drive process improvement * Collaborate in the creation of the resource management process for ITSS * Lead the management and effective use of the existing cloud-based governance and project management tool * Establish and implement metrics that measure project performance * Create communication strategy on project status, review meetings and governance dashboards for customer organizations and for internal ITSS use The University of North Texas System and its component institutions are committed to equal opportunity and comply with all applicable federal and state laws regarding nondiscrimination and affirmative action. The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in related field and seven years of closely related professional experience which provides the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: * Knowledge of effective managerial methods and techniques and how to establish and maintain an effective workforce * Ability to plan, assign and supervise the work of subordinates * Extensive knowledge of University policies and procedures related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate) * Extensive knowledge of Texas rules and regulations related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate) * Ability to plan and conceptualize and make sound business decisions * Must exercise considerable independent and professional judgment in matters of significance * Strong presentation skills * Strong problem solving skills * Strong critical thinking skills * Strong planning and project management skills * Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations verbally and in writing * Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships * Ability to work independently * Knowledge of safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed
