The College of Music Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Music Performance Technician to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: * Audio Reinforcement- Provide audio reinforcement support for events in the main music building (primarily jazz and popular music events); coordinate audio reinforcement efforts with recording services to ensure that FOH and recording work effectively with shared equipment and communicate effectively with clients to determine audio reinforcement needs and desires. * Audio Recording- Provide assistance with Student Recital and Student Ensemble Recordings, which may include: Assist in all aspects of Student Recital and Student Ensemble Recording to include: Track, edit, and create media for distribution of student recitals and student ensemble concerts of classical or jazz musical styles; properly archive material in manner described by Dir. of Recording Services; provide service and support for assigned recording sessions including client meetings, setup, mixing, duplication, billing and support; coordinate the scheduling of personnel and facilities for student recitals and student ensemble recording. * Administrative- Work in conjunction with the Dir. of Recording Services to determine the long term technical needs for Recording Services; to assist in the formulation of and execution in the planning to accomplish said tasks; archiving of appropriate media in the music library and manage/delegate duplication order requests, interactions with the main office, and quality control of product. * Supervisory and Instructional Liaison- Work in conjunction with the Dir. Of Recording Services in hiring of student personnel; training of student personnel in proper professional recording techniques and skills; reviewing the work of student personnel on a daily basis in order to distribute recordings in a timely manner to clients. * New Media- Aid in the creation and implementation of new media distribution and generate documentation to educate faculty and staff on new media outlets. * Video-Carry out procedures on video duplication, server-based distribution and web content. * Field of study in audio technology (recording, audio reinforcement (FOH)) and/or music is required for the person to have the technical skills required for the position.
