The Mail Services Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Mail Specialist to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: * To prepare and process all 1st class letter and flat mail for presort pricing and all other mail by size, weight, price and class. * Make sure mail is ran to the correct departmental account for daily postal charges. * To operate postage machines, accounting system and postal scales. * Make necessary calls for postal machine repairs and to add postage through PBP account to postage meters. * Assist and/or replace Assistant Supervisor during absence, processing business reply, postage due, operate accounting system for corrections and changes needed and entering new account numbers. * Includes closing out and balancing for the day/month. * Relief of Mail Clerks in sorting intercampus mail, running routes and assist in Standard mail area. * To answer phones and provide good customer service. * To see that mail is ready for pick up by presort house and distribution to USPS. * Perform all other duties as assigned. This position will also be responsible for maintaining university branding standards and compliance. The successful candidate will possess the following required qualifications: * High school diploma/GED equivalent and two years of postal office or mail house services. Can substitute United States Postal Service (USPS) certification for experience. * Working knowledge of postal practices, methods, and regulations. * Skill in basic filing and record keeping. * Skill in evaluating facts or situation to route calls/customers appropriately. * Skill in courteous communications with public in various communication modes. * Manual dexterity and physical ability to perform work requiring standing, stooping, lifting, walking, and some weather exposure. * Ability to learn a delivery/pick-up route. * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. * Knowledge of safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed.
