** This posting is an hourly position and is non-benefits eligible.** The Housing and Residence Life Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a LLC Mentor to join our team. Faculty and Staff in this position are expected to spend a minimum of 16 hours a month (maximum 25 hours), making contact with students living within the Living Learning Community (LLC) program in the Residence Halls. The goals of this program are to support students outside of the classroom explore career opportunities, make academic progress, and establish meaningful relationships with faculty and staff within their Living Learning Community area of interest. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: * Attend mandatory training at the start of Fall and Spring semesters. * Attend monthly staff meetings and bi-monthly meetings with in-hall professional leadership. * Communicate with the College or Department connected with the Living Learning Community in regards to community plans and collaborations. * Actively engage with students living in the residents halls by getting to know each resident within the Living Learning Community and support their academic needs, and documenting these conversations through the Student Success Meeting initiative. * Organize career-connected events in collaboration with our Career Center or companies within the DFW metroplex with the goal of helping students explore career options. * Connect students to, and have support from, faculty and staff within the College or Department associated with the Living Learning Community area of interest. * Involve students in the Living Learning Community within the College or Department events and programs throughout the academic year. *Assist in the distribution and collection of Department of Housing & Residence Life assessments related to LLC's. * Follow all Department of Housing & Residence Life policies and procedures in regards to being a university employee and Residence Hall rules and regulations. The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in related field and two years of student services, student affairs, counseling, advising, or related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. * Excellent public speaking skills with experience in conducting training workshops. * Ability to provide leadership and mentoring to student populations. * Experience in networking across departments and programs. * Demonstrated commitment to diversity. * Strong organizational skills and ability to simultaneously execute multiple projects. * Excellent verbal and written communication, and computer skills. * Some experience in customer service is preferred.
