University of North Texas - Division Sr Communication Strategist

The Division of Student Affairs Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Division Sr Communication Strategist to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: * Oversees communication, marketing and web development for the Division to ensure consistency and alignment with Division mission, vision and values. * Creates and manages a comprehensive program for the Division, as well as other campaigns, as needed. * Analyzes and assesses communication efforts to track and evaluate outreach, ROI and proper use and determines how to be more effective and efficient in Division communication. * Listens to the pulse of the Division as well as faculty, staff and students, to best determine ways to enhance communication efforts for both internal and external audiences. * Supervises and performs performance evaluations for two full-time positions. * Marketing coordinator and web developer. * Manages public relations for the Division and its component departments. * Partners with the division of University Relations, Communications, and Marketing to ensure the university's brand and overall communication strategies are reflected in the Division's communications. * Creates, manages, and assesses comprehensive communication plan for the Division as well as other communication campaigns, as needed. * Produces content for printed and electronic materials providing engaging, informative, strategic and creatively-packaged content. * Formulates, distributes and enriches information related to the Division to a target audience, always showcasing the University and Division's strongest assets. * Protects and promotes the image of the Division by coordinating the overall communication strategy and creating a communication plan for all Division messaging. * Monitor and respond to Division-wide email account, making referrals when needed. * Writes and edits talking points, scripts, letters, brochures, newsletters, presentations, and electronic communications in a manner that accurately reflects the "voice" of the Vice President for Student Affairs and department leadership. * Drafts, or assists in the development of, executive summaries for assessments conducted in the Division. * Supports departmental initiatives and identifies ways to enhance communication Division-wide. * Creates content for the Division website and works with web manager to ensure proper content creation, promotion of content on the site and distribution/sharing of content from the Division site to other websites across campus in accordance with communication plan. * Remains aware of Division newsworthy events and serves as primary "beat" writer for the Division. * Ensures that brand messages are consistent and in compliance with University policy and procedures. * Supports Vice President and Division leadership by working to ensure that communication needs are being met. The successful candidate will possess the following required qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in related field and five years of professional related experience in writing and/or editing publications; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required: * Ability to conceptualize, write and edit strategic, accurate and concise content for Division and University audiences. * Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. * Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, conduct multiple tasks, maintain effective working relationships and adapt to a changing business environment. * Ability to visually inspect print and online copy when self-editing or editing the copy of others including experience in creative editing and fact checking techniques. * Knowledge of how to contact sources and ability to conduct interviews and take accurate notes. * Ability to analyze and synthesize complex data and information from a wide range of sources to create persuasive and accurate messages and materials. * Extensive knowledge of spelling, grammar, punctuation and Associated Press and Chicago Manual styles. * Knowledge of writing guidelines for various media and ability to create unique copy for each format (print, online, broadcast). * Understanding of institutional strategy (or ability to quickly assimilate) and ability to integrate the strategy into modes of communication. * Ability to listen, interact and communicate effectively in a professional manner. * Ability to foster cooperation and teamwork in group settings. * Ability to work independently with outstanding proficiency in time management, organization, planning and prioritization. * Proven initiative, positive attitude, team oriented, self-motivated and highly enthusiastic. * Committed to excellence, has strong work ethic and takes pride in their work. * Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook. * Knowledge of or familiarity with Adobe Suite - InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, Dreamweaver * Knowledge of or familiarity with Drupal.
