The Division of Student Affairs at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Assistant VP, Student Affairs to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: * Assist the Vice President in the planning, administration, and leadership of the Division of Student Affairs. * Provides leadership for in the areas of planning, human resources, policy development, operational, facility, and budgetary aspects for all reporting departments. * Provide direct supervision, training and evaluation of programs and staff in all oversight units. * Play a key role in the implementation of the Division's strategic plan. * Serves as a strong proponent for student learning and success by promoting University & Division strategic goals and program assessment. * Work effectively with a wide variety of constituent groups including students, university staff, faculty and the public. * Knowledge of student development theories and practices. Remain abreast of current issues and best practices in higher education, specifically in areas of direct supervisory responsibility. * Supports the system of internal controls developed by the University, Division of Student Affairs, and individual departments. Upholds all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. * Prepare financial reports, supervise budget process for reporting areas. * Lead and serve on various division and university committees. * Develop and implement services, activities, and opportunities that enhance student health and wellness and lead to increased student retention, persistence, and graduation rates. * Oversee the quality and consistency of student development programming across multiple departments pertaining to the Student Health and Wellness Center, Recreational Sports, Counseling and Testing Services, Office of Disability Accommodations, and Student Money Management Center. * Other duties as assigned. The successful candidate will possess the following Master's degree in student affairs administration, student development, counseling or related field and seven years closely related professional experience (or combination of advanced education and experience). The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required. * Experience and knowledge relating to professionally and effectively counseling and mentoring students. * Extensive knowledge of student development theory and issues related to college students. * Commitment to diversity, collaborative environments and teamwork. * Ability to show initiative and productivity in the work environment. * Strong organizational, analytical, planning and budgeting skills. * Must exercise considerable independent and professional judgement in matters of significance. * Willingness to implement proactive programs and student services that benefit all students. * Strong presentation, problem solving, critical thinking and project management skills. * Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations verbally and in writing. * Ability to develop and maintains effective working relationships. * Ability to work independently. * Knowledge of safety and security precautions appropriate for work performed. * Ability to foster a climate that reinforces the development of all students.
