Open Position: Sales Engineer Machining Industry

This sales management position identifies current and new customers through a national territory targeting manufacturer’s reps, distributors and OEM end users and reports to the VP of Sales. Responsible for developing, expanding and managing sales of all Dorian Tool lines. By establishing rapport with potential and actual customers, this position provides product, service, technical equipment and engineering information as the company representative.

  • Establishes new accounts and services current customers.  Plans and organizes sales call schedule.
  • In charge of distribution network including discounts, account opening/closing and all negotiations.
  • Prepares cost estimates by studying blueprints, plans, and related customer documents; consulting with engineers, architects, and other professional and technical personnel.
  • Determines improvements by analyzing cost-benefit ratios of equipment, supplies, or service applications in customer environment; engineering or proposing changes in equipment, processes, or use of materials or services.
  • Gains customer loyalty by explaining or demonstrating cost reductions and operational improvements.
  • Develops customer's staff by providing technical information and training.
  • Manages promotions, open houses and tool shows.
  • Prepares sales engineering reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing sales information and engineering and application trends.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Education and Work Experience Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical/ Industrial Engineering or 3+ years previous experience selling in machining industry.
  • Hands-on manufacturing knowledge specifically of CNC machine tools, programming and materials.
  • Travel up to 50%, all expenses paid.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including PowerPoint & Excel.
  • Compensation based on experience, consists of base salary plus commissions linked to targets.
  • Extensive company provided technical training and support while traveling.
  • Must be self-motivated and goal-driven.
