Buddy’s bar-b-q is hiring an Assistant Manager for our upcoming new location in Clinton TN and other Knoxville area locations

Assistant Managers at Buddy’s Bar-B-Q oversee and support the restaurants in a variety of roles. Assistant Managers will work closely with the management team and staff to ensure the restaurant is operating efficiently, and within Buddy’s Bar-B-Q specifications and policies. Assistant Managers must be comfortable hiring and training staff, as well as holding staff accountable to ensure all jobs and tasks are performed correctly. They must have the ability to multitask and work at a fast pace while upholding high standards. Assistant Managers must have knowledge of health department requirements, safe food handling practices, food safety procedures. Our managers must have basic culinary knowledge and be familiar with handling of raw foods.  Buddy’s Bar-B-Q also has high standards for how we treat our guests and their experience within our restaurants. Our managers should all have a focus on making sure our guests feel welcomed and receive great service inside our four walls.

Essential Job Functions:

  • The ability to stand for extensive periods of time.
  • The ability to bend over, reach upwards or outward, twist, turn around, and climb up on ladders in a timely fashion.
  • The ability to perform a variety of job tasks at a very rapid pace.
  • The ability to perform job tasks repetitiously at a very rapid pace for extended periods of time.
  • The ability to work in an environment with temperature fluctuations.
  • The ability to use equipment including telephones, cash registers, calculators, knives, meat slicers, buffalo choppers, mixers, can openers, and scales.
  • The ability to lift very heavy objects with or without assistance.

Major Job Responsibilities:

  • Supervising employees in food preparation to ensure all Buddy’s Bar-B-Q recipes and procedures are being followed.
  • Supervising and working with employees at all positions in the restaurant, and working the position if need be.
  • Constant monitoring of hold times, shelf life of products, and practices to ensure great food quality day to day.
  • Training and cross training of new staff, as well as continual education and identifying hourly staff with management potential.
  • Set proper par levels for smoker and prep use for the restaurant to ensure we have enough food.
  • Cook, oversee, monitor, load/unload the smoker through the shift to ensure all our food is cooked properly.
  • Handles complaints and issues brought forth by any guest or employee.
  • Handles new employee orientation and submits the appropriate paperwork to payroll.
  • Handles Truck orders, scheduling, inventory, as well as cost control and labor management.
  • Handles money and deposits daily.
  • Provide honest evaluations of staff as needed.
  • Use computer daily to send emails, check numbers, and run the business.

Statement of Performance and Reporting:

The Assistant Managers will report directly to their General Manager and be evaluated yearly by their GM as well. The General Manager and District Manager will be responsible for any raises given according to the job being performed as well as the performance of the individual. The raise will be reviewed on an individual basis.

Job Qualifications:

Education: The applicant must have either a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

Experience: Qualified applicants must have at least 1 year of applicable work experience. Must be able to pass a background check and a legal US Citizen.

Skills: Qualified applicants must be age 18 or over, must be able to direct a staff, must be able to consistently exercise sound discretion, must be able to memorize basic job routines, must be able to read, write, and communicate in English effectively, must be able to perform basic math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, counting change correctly, and handling, organizing and balancing money and credit card charge slips.

Health: An applicant who is currently infected with or has knowledge that they are currently infected with a communicable disease which has been determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services as one which is transmissible to the public through the handling of food will not be considered as a qualified candidate. An applicant must comply with the applicable city Department of Health regulations as well as Buddy’s Bar-B-Q dress code policies.
