Job Description of Grounds Manager:

The Grounds Manager is the responsible for overseeing all functions of the grounds department and direct daily operations related to the grounds maintenance of the client.

•   Plans, oversees and performs grounds maintenance operations. These operations include mowing, trimming, horticultural work, irrigation, tree work, leaf removal, mulching and snow removal.
•   Monitors grounds budget for labor hours and material purchases.
•   Performs personnel reviews on all grounds employees.
•   Performs routine and frequent grounds inspections.
•   Plans and monitors preventive maintenance program for all grounds related equipment.
•   Conducts routine, frequent meetings with client staff regarding grounds operations, and special events.
•   Ability to operate motor vehicles, lift/move equipment, materials, supplies and tools; wear protective clothing as required by work environment. client and government regulations.
•   Communicate with sub-contractors and ensure they follow Client safety guidelines.
•   Keep a daily log to notate issues and progress during the year.
•   Keep all chemical, seed and fertilizer logs up-to-date.
•   Perform safety training and ensure all SDS sheets pertaining to grounds are kept in accordance with regulations.
•   Ability to understand specifications, blueprints, manuals and schematic drawings for installation, maintenance and repair of structures and equipment.
•   Required to follow all ABM, client, and regulatory Federal, State and Local agency policy guidelines and regulations.   

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelors Degree in Horticulture or related field, and 5 years of Supervisory responsibilities; or 15 years experience in “High End” grounds management(preferably Higher Education), 5 years at the supervisory level

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

•        A valid state driver's license.
•        Pesticide license in turf and ornamentals , or the ability to acquire within 6 months
•        Commercial Fertilizer Applicator license , or the ability to acquire one within 6 months.
