City of Garland Information Systems Analyst
Responsible maintaining and improving application delivery and support for the City of Garland’s information systems including requirements analysis, product evaluation and negotiation, application implementation and ongoing technology support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1) Monitor and analyze application performance.
2) Act as subject matter expert support for assigned application.
3) Analyze customer support issues and coordinate internal resources and/or vendor to provide resolution.
4) Install new releases of supported software and maintain currency with supporting documents.
5) Design and develop support applications.
6) Create, write, code, test, debug and maintain program coding to ensure proper functioning of applications and systems.
7) May train users on use of application and features.
8) Research, test, analyze and repair complex software issues.
9) Analyze new software requests from City departments.
Minimum Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Four-year college degree
- 5 years related experience
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
Preferred Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related area of study
- 5-7 years experience applications support, relational databases and customer service interface
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Comprehensive knowledge of client/server application delivery, support issues and processes
- Comprehensive knowledge of application design, server/ desktop hardware, software and operations
- Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience with assigned software application
- Excellent customer service skills
- Skill in communication both verbally and in writing
- Skill in report design and queries for assigned application
- Skill in Structured Query Language (SQL)
- Ability to research and document workflow
- Skill in interpreting technical diagrams and procedures
- Ability to research issues and develop solutions
- Ability to explain technical concepts in non-technical terms
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet customer service deadlines
Licenses and Certifications
- Valid Class C Texas driver's license
