We are currently seeking a Logistics and Marketing Specialist/Manager – Puerto Rico Tradelane in our Charlotte, NC office

The successful candidate we seek will be responsible for analyzing and reporting on the Puerto Rico container shipping market.  This person will also assist in the development and execution of winning marketing strategies for Horizon Lines that expand market share, exceed customers’ expectations and achieve profitability goals for the division and the company.

Responsibilities:

• Use internal and external tools to understand, analyze and communicate Puerto Rico market trends
• Compose and disseminate Puerto Rico Tradelane bulletins in an accurate and timely manner
• Aggregate, corroborate and communicate competitive intelligence with prudence and perspective
• Learn and improve upon existing analytical tools as well as develop new methods.  Disseminate knowledge of tools and improvements throughout Puerto Rico Tradelane and Sales teams
• Assist in the development and assembly of presentations related to the Puerto Rico Tradelane for use by Executive Team
• Liaise with Corporate Marketing to ensure alignment of Puerto Rico Marketing Strategy and Horizon Lines Corporate Marketing Strategy
• Work with Tradelane management to translate forecasting concepts into actual volume and revenue forecasts to be submitted to the finance department of a periodic basis
• Backs up Director of Tradelane Logistics and other team members as necessary

 

Qualifications and Requirements:

 

• Experience in Transportation Sales, Operations or Logistics preferred.

• Communication – communicates in a positive, clear, concise manner using impeccable grammar

• Collaboration – understands functions of various departments within the company, and ensures that all are kept appropriately informed with regard to developments in the Puerto Rico market

• Results Orientation – aggregates, records and communicates Tradelane performance; suggesting and developing ways to improve same

• Judgment – ability and willingness to make good decisions.  Generates clear, timely and accurate updates to Tradelane constituents

• Market Savvy – must be or become an expert on Puerto Rico market and economy

• Data Mining – ability to extract precise and coherent analysis of large data sets and databases

• Technical – exhibit expert level skills using Microsoft Excel and near expert levels on Microsoft PowerPoint and Word

• Understanding of SQL and Access relational databases desirable

• Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred but not required
